  • We conduct regular external reviews of how effective quality procedures are in Irish universities
  • We provide information on QA to stakeholders (via our website, publications and organised events)

Who is responsible for Quality in Irish Universities?

As autonomous institutions, the primary responsibility for quality assurance lies with the univeristies themselves.

  • The role of external quality assurance agencies such as IUQB (and the Higher Education Authority, HEA) is to ensure (through periodic evaluation) that the univeristies' internal quality assurance procedures are working well

  • In terms of the Institutes of Technology, HETAC (Higher Education & Training Awards Council) is responsible for external quality assurance

  • For DIT (Dublin Institute of Technology) NQAI (National Qualifications Authority of Ireland) is responsible for external quality assurance
